Go Betty Go | 12.06.2005

Up and coming punk band from L.A.

Go Betty Go is an all girl punk band from Los Angeles. I interviewed them at their merch booth. I did not plan on interviewing them but after watching them open for Bad Religion I was impressed with their music and interested to learn more about them. They were nice enough to take ten minutes for a quick interview. I interviewed singer Nicolette, bassist Michelle and drummer Aixa from Go Betty Go.

Q: Where are you from?
Go Betty Go: We're from Glendale, which is a suburb of L.A. Nicolette and Aixa are sisters.

Q: How did you guys get the name "Go Betty Go?"
GBG: We always had to motivate Betty at band practice. She was stubborn at band practice and the name kinda just came about like that.

Q: What are your influences?
Nicolette: The clash, Beatles, Elastica, The Police and others. Everyone else has different influences.

Q: What label are you guys on?
GBG: Side One Dummy.

Q: How did you get such a big gig opening for Bad Religion?
GBG: We have the same booking agent as they do and they had an opening for this show.

Q: What are your future touring plans?
GBG: We are playing some random L.A shows. After that we are touring in the midwest and later in the summer we are joining the Warped Tour for a 3 week stint.

Q: What was your favorite show and what is your favorite venue?
GBG: We played at a place called Smoking Mirrors in Hollywood. Our favorite venue is the House of Blues. They have a great staff and they feed you.

Q: What was your worst show?
GBG: We played this show in La Puente and our PA went out. Some kid was shot and killed at the show and I saw a puddle of blood around this kid that was no older than 14. It was horrible.

Q: What was your favorite show that you attended?
GBG: No Doubt at the Long Beach Arena.

Thank you for the interview.
GBG: Thank you.

I didn't have a chance to speak with guitarist, Betty. The band informed me that right after they played Betty went to Disneyland.
