The Impossibles disbanded | 01.12.2001

After two years reunited, the Impossibles have again disbanded. "a very heartfelt 'thank you' to everyone who was involved with the band, and to everyone who came to our shows and listened to our records for their amazing amounts of love and support. we will miss you. rory + gabe + craig". Another band that prooved that reforming a band that has already broken up is of short time and somehow ridiculous. Let's wait and see for how long this lasts.

Judas for one day (a progressive X-Mas Story) | 01.12.2001

As there's really nothing interesting to report, here's some news on beer. My pal really gave me a present yesterday (yes, it's x-mas, indeed) which consists of a goog looking black bottle of Belgian beer - carrying the telling-name JUDAS. How appropriate I thought, opened the bottle and sucked the dry liquid into my hungry stomach. I was JUDAS - JUDAS for one day

Sentence of death lifted from Mumia Abu Jamal | 01.12.2001

The death sentence imposed nearly two decades ago on Mumia Abu-Jamal was overturned yesterday. The former journalist and Black Panther, convicted of murdering a Philadelphia policeman, clearly can be viewed as a political prisoner of a racist justice system. A federal judge in Pennsylvania, William Yohn, cited problems with the jury charge and verdict form in the trial that ended with Abu-Jamal's conviction for first-degree murder. However, the judge denied all of Abu-Jamal's other claims and refused his request for a new trial. The judge said Abu-Jamal was entitled to a new sentencing hearing within 180 days. The expected change for Mumia now is that the death penalty which was sentenced to him since 1981 could be turned into lifetime imprisonment. At least he can live now, but still there's no justice in a system that claims to hold up right of equality and justice.

Sex Pistols to tour again? | 01.12.2001

Starting June 3rd 2002, the band's 25 anniversary, there are rumours about an upcoming tour. Their promotor told "NME": "I can confirm I`ve received a couple of offers about the Sex Pistols reforming again to play around the Queen`s Golden Jubilee. We`re looking at it right now, but it does depend on what day of the week it lands on, whether the band are still talking, that kind of thing."

Dag Nasty is back on Revelation Records | 01.12.2001

We actually hesitated to report this until it has become official: Revelation Records is pleased to announce the signing of Washington D.C.'s legendary Dag Nasty. After recording and releasing a new song in 1999 for the "Disarming Violence" compilation, rumors started to fly about the possibility of a new album. Well, those rumors are now in fact a reality. Featuring the line up from both "Can I Say" (Dischord) and "Four On The Floor" (Epitaph) of Dave Smalley- vocals (DYS, All, Down By Law), Brian Baker-guitars, (Minor Threat, Bad Religion), Colin Sears- drums, and Roger Marbury- bass, Dag Nasty will begin recording a brand new full length album at the beginning of January 2002. Teaming up once again with Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studios in D.C., the album will be produced by Brian Baker and Doug Hansgen (Minor Threat).

Nitro Record's latest signing | 01.12.2001

Formed in 1995 in Huntington Beach, California, Stavesacre have so far released 3 brilliant albums on Tooth & Nail Records, all of which highlight their unique and emotionally raw brand of driving rock, reminiscent of bands such as Quicksand and Tool. Look for Stavesacre's Nitro debut in mid-2002.

Coalesce reforms! | 01.12.2001

This is the official statement for the Coalesce reunion: "SINCE MY RETURN FROM KRAZYFEST TO SING FOR THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, COALESCE HAS BEEN PRACTICING SECRETLY IN THE GET UP KIDS PRACTICE SPACE. ORIGINALLY STACY, NATE, JAMES AND I GOT TOGETHER TO DISCUSS MAYBE DOING A FINAL SHOW. JAMES ONLY WANTED TO DO A TOUR, AND THE REST OF US WERE RATHER UNSURE. JAMES THEN WENT ON TOUR WITH TGUK AND THE IDEA FADED A LITTLE BIT, IT DIDN'T SEEM POSSIBLE FOR NATE TO DO IT FINANCIALLY. I THEN DIDN'T REALLY PURSUE IT THAT MUCH ANYMORE BECUASE MY DRIVE TO FINSISH THIS THING IS ALL USED UP WITH DISSAPOINTMENTS PAST. IT WAS THEN THAT I REMEMBERED THAT ANDY PANDA SAID THAT THE GUITARIST FOR HIS BAND KNEW THE SONGS AND COULD SHRED. I GAVE HIM SOME COALESCE CDS AND ASKED HIM TO LEARN SOME AND SEE IF IT MIGHT WORK. TWO DAYS LATER I HAD A CDR IN MY HAND WITH HIM OVERDUBBING THE SONGS TO PERFECTION. I THEN GAVE THE CDR TO JAMES AND THAT WAS THAT. STACY (MOST DON'T KNOW HE IS THE ORIGINAL MEMBER THAT FORMED THE BAND IN THE FIRST PLACE) JUMPED ON BOARD, AND IT WAS REHEARSAL, REHEARSAL, REHEARSAL FROM THEN ON. I DON'T REALLY KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN WHAT'S GOING ON, BECAUSE IT'S BEEN SUCH A DREAM TO WORK WITH THIS LINE UP. THERE HAVE BEEN NO PERSONALITY ISSUES (THE DEATH OF COALESCE SO MANY TIMES), EVERYONE WANTS TO PLAY THE SONGS, AND WE ACTUALLY HAVE FUN AT REHEARSAL. SO NOT ONLY IS THIS JUST A "WE ARE PRACTICING" POST, THE NEWS IS WE ARE TOURING NEXT SPRING. THIS IS NOT A "WE ARE THINKING ABOUT IT", THIS IS "WE'LL POST THE DATES WHEN THEY ARE CONFIRMED" POST. EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN SUPPORTIVE OF THE BAND MADE THIS HAPPEN. THE SPARK YOU GUYS GAVE ME AT KRAZYFEST IS WHAT GOT THIS ROLLING. I WANT TO HONESTLY THANK YOU GUYS FOR THAT. COALESCE WAS ALWAYS AN OUTLET FOR NEGATIVE ENERGY, AND MUCH OF IT WAS BROUGHT TO THE SHOWS (CREWS, AND DEATH THREATS), AND TOWARDS THE END OF OUR LAST LINE UP IT WASN'T AS MUCH FUN AS IT WAS WORK. ALL OF THAT HAS CHANGED. I ALSO WANT TO THANK THE KC/LAWRENCE LOCALS FOR KEEPING THIS UNDERWRAPS, I KNOW THAT THE WORD GOT OUT MONTHS AGO. ALSO BUDDYHEAD FOR KEEPING A LID ON IT TOO, THAT'S MUCH APPRECIATED.

No MORE DK's "FRESH FRUIT..." on A.T. | 01.12.2001

The following came in from Alternative Tentacles: "Finally caving in to Decay Music's demands, Cherry Red Records have terminated Alternative Tentacles Records' license to distribute Virus 01 Dead Kennedys Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables LP/CD/MC. In April 2002 we will no longer be allowed to sell the first Dead Kennedys album. (The other 4 albums were yanked away from us last January when we lost then lawsuit.) It will be coming out on Cleopatra Records in America. A label known for their tribute albums, as well as goth and techno music. So, if you want the original version make sure to purchase it before April 2002, else it will raise eBay's stock price come mid-2002."
