Wall Of Death- lethal accident at Pressure Fest | 27.06.2005 |
|
| |
 |
This weekend´s Pressure Fest counts it´s first dead.
According to dpa, a 26 year old guy got hit into the liver during a "wall of death" and collapsed afterwards. He died in hospital soon after... R.I.P. Overall at least 19 person had to seek medical assistance to cure fractures and bruises. Violent "dancing" still sucks!
Edit: The guy seemed to die due to a heart disorder. Even though not a direct consequence of violent dancing, 19 injured persons are more than enough...

NIKE a major threat? | 24.06.2005 |
|
| |
 |
NIKE abuses the classic cover art from Minor Threat's "s/t" compilation from 1984.
NIKE Skateboarding uses a slightly edited poster image for its "Major Threat" 2005 East Coast Tour. The picture shows Minor Threat's classic cover art changed from red to blue having the protagonist wearing NIKE shoes instead of leather sneekers. Obviously, the enlightened reader does not need a degree in graphic design to understand the similarities (see picture below).
And when you think NIKE asked permission in order to use the cover art - far from it.
According to Pitchfork, Dischord is more than unhappy about the situation. They told the media that "they stole it and we're not happy about it. Nike is a giant corporation which is attempting to manipulate the alternative skate culture to create an even wider demand for their already ubiquitous brand. Nike represents just about the antithesis of what Dischord stands for and it makes me sick to my stomach to think they are using this explicit imagery to fool kids into thinking that the general ethos of this label, and Minor Threat in particular, can somehow be linked to Nike's mission. It's disgusting."
At this point the label is not sure of what action they are going to take. We will keep you posted.
